Say A Little Prayer for U.S.

June 27 — August 11, 2017

Opening Reception: Tuesday, June 27, 2017 6—8pm

This July, the gallery will mount an outdoor installation of printed prayer flags on view through the summer. Hung in the Planthouse back garden space, surrounded by architecture of the Garment district, the textile flags will register expressions of protest, and hope. Following their exemplars, the flags are meant to spread peace, compassion, strength and wisdom to others through the wind, benefitting all. Instead of catching breezes, the flags will be tucked into the urban jungle; seen from above or from within the garden, they may signify the power of small actions and collaboration within a harsh environment. They will disintegrate over time through exposure to the elements, with the symbolism of their messages becoming part of the world.
