43 Monsters children’s book launches at The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Very rarely do childhood paintings move from the refrigerator to an acid free archival box, but the foresight of artist Chuck Webster’s mother has given rise to the inspired 43 Monsters. This fall, Planthouse, in collaboration with Manic D Press, pairs the wildly imaginative childhood drawings of Webster with the hilarious narrative of “Brokesurus” and his feisty companions, written by celebrated author Arthur Bradford.
Planthouse will be celebrating the book’s launch with several upcoming events. Tune in this Halloween, as artist and radio host Martha Lewis will host Arthur, Chuck and Katie Michel on her WPKN radio show “Live Culture” from 11-12 noon to chat about the book. On November 9th, at 6pm, the creators and publishers will be in conversation at the store Books of Wonder. Signed copies of both versions of the book will be available at the event. Books of Wonder is located at 18 W 18th St, New York, NY. On November 10th, 43 Monsters will officially launch with a special talk at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in the drawings and prints rooms for friends of the program. 43 Monsters is available for purchase on our website and will be on bookstore shelves on November 17th.
