CALL FOR ARTWORK: Building Power- A Benefit for VOCAL and the Young Center

Planthouse Gallery will be hosting “Building Power: A Benefit for VOCAL-NY and the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights”, organized by Kirsten Flaherty. This fundraising exhibition will feature over 75 artworks priced at $200 and under. All proceeds will be donated to Voices Of Community Activists & Leaders (VOCAL-NY) and The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights. The pop-up exhibition will occur on Sunday, January 20th from 1 – 8pm at Planthouse Gallery.

VOCAL-NY is a statewide grassroots organization that builds power among low-income people affected by HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, the drug war, homelessness, and mass incarceration in order to create healthy and just communities. The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights is a champion for the best interests of children who arrive in the United States on their own, from all corners of the world and they serve as allies for children while they are in deportation proceedings. All proceeds will be donated between these two organizations.

At this time we are asking artists for donations to “Building Power: A Benefit for VOCAL and the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights”. All media is welcomed. Submissions must be unframed, sized under 18 x 24 inches and priced at or under $200. Images with graphically violent content will not be accepted. Unsold work will be returned to the artist.
