Anton Würth
Anton Würth (b. 1957, Oberstdorf, Germany) is a German artist whose work focuses primarily on printing techniques. In 1983, he graduated from the University of Applied Arts in Augsburg, where he studied graphic design with an emphasis on typography and book illustration. In 1984, he received his diploma from the International Seminars for Lithography at the Raffael Academy in Urbino. In 1988, he was invited to the International Symposium for Traditional Print Media in Como, Italy, and has since spent a significant part of his career in Italy. Since his first solo show in 1985, he has enjoyed numerous solo and group shows in Germany and abroad. In 2006, he became an Artist-in-Residence at Künstlerhaus Lukas, in Ahrenshoop with a grant from the Berlin Senatsverwaltung für Kunst, Kultur und Wissenschaft. Würth is represented by the C.G. Boerner Gallery in New York City and in Düsseldorf. His work has appeared at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, in the Contemporary German Artists Books at the San Francisco Public Library, and the Print Center in Philadelphia. His prints are in the collections of a number of distinguished international institutions including the British Museum, Harvard Art Museum, the Library of Congress, the Museum of Modern Art, Yale University and the Gutenberg Museum. He lives and works in Offenbach, Germany.
