Jonathan Weinberg is a painter, art historian and curator. He was a Guggenheim Fellow and an artist-in-residence at St. Michael’s College, the Getty Research Center, and at the Addison Gallery of American Art. He currently teaches at the Yale School of Art, and the Rhode Island School of Design. A one-man retrospective of his work was on view at the Leslie Lohman Museum in New York City in 2010 and his installation, 49+ (Orlando) was shown at Artspace New Haven in 2016. His paintings are in many important public and private collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Montclair Art Museum. His books include Pier Groups: Art and Sex along the New York Waterfront, Male Desire: the Homoerotic in American Art; and Ambition and Love in American Art. He is the lead curator for the touring exhibition, Art after Stonewall: 1969-89 which will open in New York City at the Leslie Lohman Museum and the Grey Art Gallery in April, 2019.
