Marilena Stavrakidis | There Is No Narrative in Water
There Is No Narrative In Water is a project started by Marilena Stavrakidis in 2015. In 2018, Planthouse collaborated with Stavrakidis to publish a limited edition publication of 25 emergency blankets to commemorate her project. The edition includes 2 images, a poem and a USB with a 7 minute and 11 second audio/video piece. The audio is a narration of a young Afghan refugee and his perilous journey from Afghanistan to Greece. The brief breakouts throughout the audio adding up to 1 minute of silence, serves as a commemoration of all the faceless asylum seekers who have lost their lives at sea.
Marilena Stavrakidis is a Greek multidisciplinary artist whose work focuses on sociopolitical issues. Stavrakidis has been awarded the Anthony M.
