Matt Magee | Hope 2021
I try not to aim
anywhere as such,
head nowhere special;
I’ve got this idea
I keep to myself
that if I stay still,
I mean really still
so that the trembling
stops, I’ll uncouple
hope from desire.

Planthouse is pleased to present HOPE 2021 by Matt Magee published in an edition of 50.
ARTIST STATEMENT: Language is liquid and as HOPE was drawn with water from a spoon onto pavement, I wondered how long it would take to disappear. Branched, hope flowed beyond itself, beyond the confines of its four letters and reflected an ambient light that gave it body and substance. Elemental and mercurial, hope found its own alchemical path and reached its fixed aspirational point. Hope stands for this moment.
