Robert Medvedz
Robert Medvedz (b. 1970) was born in Windber, PA. He works in printmaking, painting and drawing. He draws with sumi-e ink which was made by hand at Kobaien, a small ink shop founded in 1577 in Nara, Japan. His drawings are made without any preliminary sketching. Medvedz enjoys the direct link to the subconscious that this process enables after years of practice. Medvedz finds that drawing becomes a moving meditative state.
Medvedz graduated from The Rhode Island School of Design in 1992 with a BFA in painting. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions at The Greene Gallery in Geneva, Switzerland and at Earl McGrath Gallery in New York City. He has exhibited internationally and in the US in a number of group shows, including at The Greene Gallery in Geneva, Switzerland; The Drawing Center, New York City, NY; Showroom, Santa Fe, NM; and at White Columns in New York City.
