Nicholas Ruth

Nicholas Ruth was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. Ruth received a Bachelor of Art from Pomona College. He then interned with the Metropolitan Museum of Art before earning an MFA at the Meadows School of Art at Southern Methodist University. Currently, Ruth teaches courses in painting, drawing and print-making at Hobart and William Smith College. In 2019, he was named the Class of 1964 Endowed Professor of Art and Architecture. He was also recognized for his commitment to students and excellence in teaching in 2004, and for scholarship in 2015. Ruth’s work has been featured in exhibits regionally, nationally and internationally. He has received recognition from the Saltonstall Foundation, The New York State Council on the Arts and the Dallas Art Museum.
