Within a carnival game or booth, coveted prizes line the wall—David B. Smith’s stuffed and threaded sculptures investigate those objects. Do they look like us? Do they create feelings of warmth and nostalgia? Or are they foreign and strange scraps of plush fabric assembled to generate meaning beyond their materiality? Smith's references are open-ended, an exercise in remembering our past.
