Every Which Way (1-4), 2021 are Rachel Ostrow's first print editions using the cliché verre technique.
Cliché verre is a semi-photographic type of printmaking. The original images for these prints were painted on glass plates. These plates were placed on light-sensitive paper where they acted as photographic negatives when they were exposed to light in a darkroom. The final images are direct contact prints; the inverse of the original painting on glass.
Ostrow is a Brooklyn-based painter and printmaker. She earned a B.A. in Fine Arts from Wesleyan University, a post-baccalaureate degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and an M.F.A. in painting from Hunter College.
