Victory Garden, Pink House Defender, 2022

Dyesublimated poly silk flag

30 x 48 inches

In 2021, Victory Garden made a limited edition print titled Pink House in response to proposed laws that would erase women’s reproductive rights in the United States. It depicted the Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Mississippi’s only remaining clinic that supports a woman’s right to make autonomous decisions about her body. All proceeds ($10,000) from the purchase of this limited edition print were donated to the Jackson Women’s Health Organization to support women’s right to choose in states which limit access to contraception.

In light of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent vote to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, Victory Garden will publish a Pink House flag in an open edition.

This image of the Pink House reminds us of the perseverance and compassion the Jackson Women’s Health Organization has shown in its determination to provide women with their legal right to health care. We see the Pink House as a symbol that conveys compassion and camaraderie to the many women whose health will be directly harmed by the Supreme Court’s reckless decision. We hope it will also activate all women across the U.S. to vote in the upcoming elections and persevere in protecting our gender from the government’s intrusion on our rights.
