Wuon-Gean Ho was born in 1973 in Oxford and raised in the UK by Malaysian and Singaporean parents. She received a BA in Art History from Cambridge University and an MA in Printmaking from the Royal College of Art. She also studied Japanese woodblock printmaking at the Kyoto Seika University in Japan. Ho has taught printmaking internationally for over 15 years and participated in residencies in the US, Canada, China, Italy, and the UK. Her work has been shown internationally and extensively in the UK. She is currently a research associate and the inaugural editor of the IMPACT Printmaking Journal for the University of the West of England. Ho is known for her expressive, colorful linocuts about intimacy, tenderness, and connection. Her work commonly features people and animals in comedic, absurd, or affectionate situations. She aims to balance complex situations with limited scale and layering of blocks.
